What happens when you press that Buy Now button in Amazon? Let’s explore behind the scenes and how a package is delivered.
More than 3000 associates work in Amazon’s fulfillment center picking, packing, and shipping customer orders.
Amazon uses robotic drive units to get items to associates, they can lift up to 1000 lbs. The robotic drive units carry more than 60,000 cods.
The picker grabs the item from a pot, stick it in a bin, and gets it down the conveyor into a pack line. Amazon associates look at a screen that tells them the size of the box to use and in there it will spit out the right amount of air and passed to a conveyor.
At last an imaging device will read the label and tag to make sure the right item is going to the right place.
An item can be picked, packed, and loaded in a truck in as little as 30 mins after pressing the Buy Now button.
