The single best way to learn a new language is to use it every day. When people have normal conversations, they don’t “figure out” what others are saying— they don’t decode the meaning of foreign sentences; they speak, respond and react in realtime. Language is a social act: converse in English at least three hours per week.

Practice makes perfect: every time you’re in the car, listen to the news in English, regardless of how much you understand.
Activate closed captions on your TV or video player, and watch your favorite program in English: pause the program regularly, and repeat what you hear, reading the English closed captions on the screen.
Switch your gadgets over to English: switch the language of your phone, Facebook account, computer Operating System, and everything else over to English.
Sing along to English songs.
Study with peers. Your fellow language learners will motivate and inspire you.
